PR-Minded

Finally, a title for my blog! Better late than never, right?

When I started this blog about a month ago, I was so eager to get writing that I just plopped my name as the blog title, “Amanda Smith.” It doesn’t say very much about my focus or the blog itself, does it? (Not to mention how unoriginal my name is anyways!)

Picking a title for my blog isn’t something I overlooked, it is just something I haven’t been able to decide upon. I wanted to pick something that was inspired by own vision for this blog, not something I saw on a PR firm’s blog that seemed catchy.

I recently discovered a hilarious Tumblr account, inspired by the witty whatshouldwecallme blog that focuses on the first world problems of PR pros.  My favorite post was an image of a woman spitting water as a reaction to the most recent Time magazine cover photo. Check it out!

This Tumblr blog is funny, but it also made me think about how PR professionals view various news stories, current events, and social trends through a PR lens. You could say, they are PR-Minded.

So, the title “PR-Minded” is inspired by the phrase “social-minded” which basically means concerned with the welfare of society. PR-minded people, though, are obviously concerned with public relations now and in the future.
